Specialist Support
The staff at Winslow Court have access to additional, extra support in the following area.
Psychologist:
Winslow Court‘s psychologist is experienced in the field of learning difficulties, and is involved in developing interaction progarmmes with the staff group. The psychologist is actively involved in any assessment for potential residents and provides training to staff to be able to understand resident’s diagnosis or syndrome.
Speech & Language Therapist:
Our Speech & Language Therapist assesses our residents and focuses on development skills in expressing ideas and developing and understanding of other people’s communication. Staff and students use the PECS communication system and Makaton. Picture and symbol methods are also used.
Local GP:
All residents are registered with the local GP, who has 15 years of experience of treating people with severe learning disabilities. Well persons clinics are available and the GP is also a homeopathic doctor.
Consultant Psychiatrist:
The consultant psychiatrist is available from the local community team, to support staff. He visits Winslow Court to see residents, therefore he can observe the resident in his/her own environment.
We also have the facility to access our own consultant psychiatrist if required if the community team are unable to provide this service for any reason.
Dentist:
The dentist is experienced at treating people with severe learning difficulties and our residents have regular appointments, which ensure that oral hygiene is good.
