Activities
Winslow Court also makes regular use of community facilities and our philosophy of using fully integrated services result, for example in visits to the local swimming pool, theatres, shops, as well as the specialist Worcester Snoezelen Centre and Riding for the Disabled. We encourage residents’ participation in local full time college programmes, and also to make use of the College Outreach Groups, which are popular with many of our residents.
A high emphasis is given to artwork; our own Art & Sensory Co-Ordinator has been delivering uncontrived artwork for thirteen years at Winslow Court. We have held many exhibitions in the local area, including Hereford Cathedral; which was a great success. One of the residents also won European Disabled Artist of the year in 2000.
As well as art, we also have our own Pottery facility, with our potter who works with the residents. This can involve individual work by residents or group projects, which can produce some very excellent results.
Onsite our residents also have access to Horticulture, Walking, Cycling, Conservation, Sport, Barbeques and Camping.
College: Winslow Court has built up a successful and fruitful relationship with Hereford and Worcester Colleges. The Outreach group provides sessions in Cookery, Gardening, Information Technology, and life skills on site.
Our residents can where appropriate also take advantage of courses at the college, where they benefit from integrating into the college community. |
