Specialist Support
Therapeutic provision
Many of the young people who attend our school lack a sense of self and will often reflect a negative role which was given to them by others. We focus on recreating a sense of identity in our young people, based on positive attributes and healthy areas of functioning.
We take a holistic approach to each individual student, rather than focusing on specific areas of their behaviour. We use solution focused work to help them come to terms with their past in the understanding that any solutions to current problems are likely to be found in the
present and the future.
Some of the approaches we use include:
- Non directive Play Therapy
- Art Therapy
- Counselling
- Bereavement work
- Solution focused brief therapy
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Behavioural Modification programmes
- Psychotherapy
- Group Meetings
- Family Support
If it is felt that a student requires more help than available at the school then a referral is made to one of a range of independent specialists. Each student has at least one special care person working with them to provide emotional support and programmes are regularly
monitored and modified so our students can maximise their progress whilst with us. Our
clinical work and therapeutic training needs are supervised by highly qualified child and
adolescent Psychotherapists.
All residential students are registered with the local GP and Dentist. We also have a Nurse who visits once a month. |
