Where do the assessments take place?
Assessments are carried out by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Specialist Teacher, Psychologist and Audiologist. All assessments are carried out within the child’s/young person’s familiar environment, be it home, school or residential provision. If necessary the assessment can be carried out at the APT centre which is based at Bladon House School.
How long does the assessment take?
The assessment period varies depending on need, but most usually last for a period of three days.
What happens after the assessment?
Following the assessment an independent, comprehensive assessment report is prepared, which includes suggested individual programme and support strategies. The APT team also provide a personal feedback on the report programme via a meeting with all relevant parties.
What if the strategies identified are outside of our skill base?
If necessary training can be provided to assist in meeting the identified strategies related to the individual programme.
What support do we receive after the assessment findings have been reported?
All work is supervised for the first 6 months to ensure the strategies are effective and to identify any changes that may be necessary as progress is made and to support the best possible outcome for the child or young person.
