An Independent Special School has been praised by Government inspectors for providing a good standard of education.
The Pegasus School, in Caldwell, near Swadlincote, achieved a “good” rating from the Office for Standards in Education.
The School provides education for children and young people with complex communication and learning difficulties.
Staff were praised for adapting the curriculum, teaching methods and activities to meet the needs of the pupils.
Head Teacher Hugh Rodger said: “These are among some of the most complex young people in the country. To have achieved such a good inspection report indicates how hard our staff work and how well our young people are doing.”
The school is in the grounds of Caldwell Hall and provides education and care for up to twenty three young people between the ages of eight and nineteen. Places are paid for by Local Authorities.
