Derbyshire Blue Watch Fire Service visited Pegasus School on Tuesday 4th May 2010.
All the students were able to climb on board the engine and sit inside the cab, use the Infra Red Camera, hoses, wear the rucksack, the water backpack, the life jacket and of course, the helmet.
Following the visit Di Rowland, the school’s Welfare Officer, held house meetings in which the students covered the topic of Fire Safety at School. Students were reminded of the posters and fire exit signs around school and where to go if the fire alarm does go off. The meeting emphasized the importance of the message GET OUT. STAY OUT. DON’T GO BACK. Students also practiced the STOP. DROP. ROLL. procedure for putting out clothing fire.
