Welcome to Pegasus School

"I would like to let you know how much me and my family appreciate all of Pegasus staff's hard work with our son over the years that he has resided with you all. He has achieved outstanding obstacles and goals not only in his education but also in life skills. I recommend Pegasus as a fantastic residential placement. Over the years I have seen for myself how dedicated, precise, flexible, extremely organised, helpful, approachable and caring Pegasus staff are".
Parent, 2011

Pegasus School is situated in the grounds of Caldwell Hall, five miles from Burton on Trent on the borders of Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. We provide education and care for children and young people between the ages of 8 and 19 years, who have Autism, challenging behaviour and complex communication and learning difficulties. We have places for residential and day students, all of whom are provided with individualised specialist support. It is usual for our students to have a Statement of Special Educational Needs.

We are able to offer a range of placement options including:

  • 52 weeks residential – Full residential care in our onsite registered children's home.
  • 38 week residential – The young person is resident at the school during term time only.
  • 39 to 51 week residential – Where there is a need to provide additional
residential support to meet the needs of the young person and their family.
  • Day Placements.

We have a multi-disciplinary team approach which includes Teachers, Therapists, Care Staff and Specialist Support Staff and parents and guardians. This ensures that all areas of our students Statement are met, any difficulties are addressed quickly and effectively, our students progress is constantly monitored and we can ensure effective liaison with parents and authorities.

Our Aims

To meet our students needs by fulfilling our Social Inclusion policy in the areas of:

  • Physical needs
  • Social needs
  • Learning needs
  • Emotional needs
  • Material needs
  • Medical needs

To create a social and learning environment that addresses behavioural difficulties through the development of core interactive skills.

To maintain and develop these targets by ongoing self evaluation.
