Care
"The provision for helping children achieve well and enjoy what they do is
outstanding. Young people benefit by having their unique needs thoroughly assessed and met."
Ofsted 2010
Each of our young people has an individualised Care Plan developed by our multi-disciplinary team, parents, case worker and where possible the young person themselves. Each young person has their own room within a small residential house. Each house has homely and
comfortable living and leisure rooms, as well as a kitchen.
The Head of Care has overall responsibility for all support staff. He co-ordinates the division of the young person's time outside the education setting and is a key link to parents. He also has the further duties of planning core areas and liaising with social services and OFSTED.
Our Deputy Heads of Care are responsible for the on- going monitoring and assessment of support staff working with our young people, ensuring our high quality programmes are
maintained. They deputise for the Head of Care and have specific roles in behavioural
management, personnel, health and safety and the planning of activities.
Our Care staff include Support Staff, House Managers and Shift Leaders. Both House
Managers and Shift Leaders have Senior on Duty roles. House Managers have responsibility for individual homes, including their cleanliness, and ensuring they remain homely and well
furnished. They organise staff within the home and have a close links with parents. They have contact with the young people during class and care time. Shift Leaders, however, have a role that emphasises the ongoing management of support staff, ensuring that there is always
continuous guidance and help as staff manage all areas of the young persons' needs.
Our support staff also play a very important role in our young people's lives. They provide support throughout the day to Teachers and Therapists. They also advise on targets and
development in each young person's care and education plans. |
