Members of staff from across the SENAD Groups schools and homes met at Cannock Hockey and Cricket Club on Tuesday the 8th of December 2009 for the groups first ‘Best Practice Seminar’. The aim of the seminars is to ensure that best practice in all areas of education and care is accessed and shared throughout the Group. The seminar which was organised by Martin Bradder, Group Health and Safety Manager and Brian Lock the Groups newly appointed Quality Assurance Manager, forms part of the SENADs ‘quality assurance’ approach and its ongoing commitment to drive up standards for the children and adults in their care.
The opening address was delivered by Brian Jones and during the day presentations were delivered on best practice around fire safety, crisis planning, the risk assessment of sports activities, internal communication tools, and medication policy. Duncan Pritchard – Head Teacher of Aran Hall School also delivered a presentation on the use of Functional Behavioural Assessments which have been used by the School in successfully understanding and working with young people with challenging behaviours. |
