The design plans for the new residential development at Bladon House School have now been given planning approval by South Derbyshire District Council. The proposed development, to establish new accommodation, comprises of three homes for children and young people who study at Bladon House School, as well as an activity building and a laundry building.
The scheme will also provide over forty new and revised parking facilities enhancing the school environment, and making the site safer for students and staff.
The homes will be designed to complement the current architecture of Bladon House School whilst meeting all modern regulations and requirements and providing a traditional homely appearance and feel. Each six bedroomed home will be autonomous and provide a range of facilities including living, dining and quiet areas. The separate activity building will provide an additional space serving all three homes.
The homes will be grouped to create a discrete courtyard garden and will have views into the garden and across open countryside. It is intended over time that the children and young people living in the homes will plant and maintain the grassed area, giving them a sense of ownership of the space.
