Bladon House School Pilot the British Institute of Learning Disabilities 'Quality Network Review'

The BILD Quality Network Review is now well under way at Bladon House School. The Project is in its second  pilot phase for Children and Young People, following its success over the past ten years in Adult Residential Services. Its aim is to improve lives and make a real difference in the choices and opportunities that are available to them.

The Review focuses on ten Quality Outcomes and is a powerful tool that has helps shape services and provide a simple yet important assessment of how individuals are living their lives, the choices they make and what actions can be taken for improvements to their lives.

A team of ten people has been formed by the School. The team are made up of a wide variety of people including the parent of a current Bladon student, Marketing Manager for the SENAD Group, the school Bus Driver, Human Resources Officer, a Connexions Advisor, a Residential Manager for Adults and a current Bladon student.

As part of the review each member of the team has visited their young person four times over the last eight weeks. The visits have taken place in the different environments that the young person experiences, at school, at home and during leisure time in the evening, with a view to gaining an insight into their lives.

In mid May the Team meet up and each presents a poster about their young person and what they have found out about their lives from the four visits. From this an action plan for improvement is developed.

The process takes twelve months and will form a permanent part of the self assessment and school development systems which are already in operation.
