In Mays newsletter we reported that two members of staff from Callow Park College were part of a seven women team rafting team who were preparing to compete in the European Rafting Championships in Wildalpen, Austria.

The team successfully completed all four of their races, which included sprints and endurance type events. Clare Atkinson, one of the team members commented on the endurance race:

’we battled constantly for one hour with four other boats. During the race each one of us was in front. It was hard work keeping up and we had to fight hard against the pain in our arms but it was a brilliant experience. There was a fantastic atmosphere between all the countries taking part and the Great British first team gave us lots of hints and tips for each race’.

The team found the Austrians really welcoming. During the opening ceremony the teams paraded through the village and there were dancers and live bands out in the streets. Well done Ladies!
