The Science department at Alderwasley Hall School organised for Martin, the ‘Big Bug Man’ to visit in December.
Martin brought his superb collection of BIG BUGS with him and enthralled both students and staff alike.
Despite the cold they managed to get some heat on to the bugs and who very quickly sprang into life. Martin’s special jumping cockroach refused to take part as it was too cold.
Many students were so interested in the bugs they wanted to hold them all, though luckily not all at once. Some students and staff were not so keen, but most overcame their fears and held at least one bug each – well done to everyone for trying something new. Linked into the visit the School ran the bug poetry competition, a bug design competition and a bug research competition.
Due to the success of the event the School hopes to invite Martin back for a ‘Reptile and Amphibian’ day when the weather’s not so cold. A big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who made this a great experience and day to remember.
